This three day event features traditional First Nations dancers, singers, drummers and artists on the Museum's Native village site, where about 2000 Neutral Iroquoians lived in the mid-1600's.
Visitors can experience and take part in a variety of activities including aboriginal dancing, music & artists workshops, storytelling, historical demonstrations, aboriginal cooking demonstration, and children's activities. First Nation's craft and food vendors are also on site for the three day event.
The weekend kicks off with a Friday night outdoor concert in the village.
Come join us for a fun filled weekend that is sure to leave you with lasting memories!
Derek Miller is an aboriginal Canadian singer-songwriter from the Six Nations of the Grand River. He is a two-time winner of the Juno Award for Aboriginal Recording of the Year, for his albums Music Is The Medicine and The Dirty Looks. He performed at the Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics with Eva Avila and Nikki Yanofsky. 2010 was the first year that we hosted an evening concert, made possible by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Culture with the Celebrate Ontario grant, and we are thrilled to have received funding to host Derek Miller for this year’s concert.
